Moving - Make Room for Change

Did you know that May is National Moving Month?

Moving is one of the most stressful events in ones life, but you can eliminate some of the stress with a bit of advance preparation and planning.

One of the best gifts you can give yourself before you move is to downsize, pack and move only what you will use in your new home.
Yes, this may be easier said than done, especially if you do not know what you will need and/or use in your new home.

The "stuff" I am talking about are the years of accumulation and boxes that are shuffled from one home to the next, with the contents never to see the light of day.

I once worked with a client that moved quite often due to the demands of his job. For years he moved boxes and boxes of books, paperwork, CD's, Videos - just because his company paid for the cost of his moves. When he came to the realization that it was time to "lighten up and let go" he couldn't believe the "weight" he had been carrying around with him over the years. I'm not talking about just the weight of the boxes, but the weight that was on his shoulders and the emotions that had also been packed away in those boxes for a couple of decades.

Moving is a time of change and new beginnings - by editing out and downsizing possessions before your move you will make room for new things and opportunities. Don't worry should you be lucky enough to have left over space!
