Organizing with Laura: Real Life Strategies & Techniques
Last week I did something that my clients and others have been asking me to do for years; I hosted my first "Organizing with Laura" class in our home to a sold out crowd of 10.
This class was a hit and many told me that they got so many ideas that they couldn't wait to go home and implement.
Over the years, I've done a lot of public speaking and taught more classes than I can remember - and what I liked about this class over the others is that everyone participated. Everyone opened up and shared their stories....we all have them, even me....as they all found out! It's good to share - you know you're not alone out there.
I have to admit, it was a bit nerve wracking opening my home... along with the cupboards, drawers, closets, garage, file cabinets, etc.....to everyone. It's a bit like when we go to our client's homes - and they open these areas to us. We always tell our clients that we are there to solve an organizing challenge, not judge the situation. This usually helps to put people at ease. I have to remember this myself - everyone just wants to learn how to organize certain areas, along with the products that work best - that's what this class was all about.
After talking for about 1 1/2 hours at the beginning, we took tours of: Kitchen, Master Closet, Linen Closet, Laundry Room, Office and Garage - the class actually went about 5 hours instead of the planned 4, but I was happy to extend it for those that could stay.
One of the many things that I learned during this class was the huge interest in how to organize the office and handle the daily deluge of paper. I have always known this is one of the most challenging areas of the home to organize and keep organized, so at the request of a few people in class, I may soon start offereing a paper organizing class as well.
If you want to get in on the action, there are a few seats left in the October 28th class. I will soon announce the next dates for this class and the paper organizing class. In order to receive notice of these classes - sign up for our newsletter at: Eliminate Chaos
I'll see you in class!
